Associate Membership (for those who are still Public Servants)

Advantages

FSNA, with over 130,000 retired federal government members, represents retired public servants, RCMP, Canadian Forces personnel, federally appointed court judges, and their spouses. Treasury Board officially recognizes this unique status. Our Association’s primary objective has, over its 42-year history, been to protect pension, health and dental benefits on their behalf. We also provide other services and discounts such as travel, home, auto and long-term care insurance at very economical rates along with other various forms of support and assistance to retired federal employees.

Recently, the FSNA decided that it would be appropriate and useful to offer access to these services and discounts to all persons still employed within the federal government. It therefore created a special membership category, called Associate Membership, at a nominal cost of $15 per year. While Associate Membership gives employees access to the full range of FSNA’s services and discounts, it also consciously allows them to contribute to the protection of their longer-term interests in pension, health and other related benefits. One of the key immediate advantages to Associate Members, especially those nearing retirement, is information and support for retirement planning. The vast majority of our members have said that they had waited far too long to do proper planning in this regard. We will provide retirement planning seminars over the next few months.

Please examine the various member services to which you would be entitled as an Associate, by selecting from the various categories on the navigation bar (left-hand column of this page).

To get an overview of what policy enhancements and problem solutions we are tackling at the present time, in the areas of Superannuation, Health and Dental Plans, Public Pensions, Income Tax, and many other areas affecting retirees, please have a look at the most recent Status Report of FSNA's resolution list.
