FSNA Membership Information

Retired

Promote and protect your federal retirement benefits. Now and in the future!

Eligibility

Persons in receipt of a pension under the Public Service Superannuation Act, the Canadian Forces Superannuation Act, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Superannuation Act, or the Judges Act, and spouses/partners and surviving spouses/partners of contributors who are or were in receipt of such pensions.

Rights and Privileges

As an FSNA Ottawa Branch member, you will, as a recipient of the Association’s national quarterly “ON GUARD”, regular Ottawa Branch Reports and other periodic communications, have access to communications on pension, health and dental benefits–. You will receive the estate-planning workbook “You and Your Survivors” and will also be eligible for various member discounts and services. Advice on PSHCP health benefits and bereavement support services are also available. And, of course, you will be supporting the Association’s important research, advocacy and lobbying efforts. Regular members are also entitled to take part in Branch elections, to hold elected office, to participate in Branch committees and other volunteer work and to attend and vote at Branch General Meetings traditionally held in the spring and autumn of each year. Regular members are also eligible to be selected as delegates to the Association’s Annual General Meetings, Special General Meetings or Conventions.

To get an overview of what policy enhancements and problem solutions we are tackling at the present time, in the areas of Superannuation, Health and Dental Plans, Public Pensions, Income Tax, and many other areas affecting retirees, please have a look at the most recent Status Report of FSNA's resolution list.

Rates and Methods of Payment

The annual membership rates are $34.20 (single) or $44.40 (double – i.e., superannuate and spouse).

Retired Public Service, Canadian Forces and RCMP personnel may choose monthly dues deductibility from their superannuation cheque ($2.85 for single membership, $3.70 for double membership) – both for convenience and for monthly budgeting reasons – a factor to be seriously considered in retirement. Also, your association will make substantial savings in administration costs.

Retirees may also choose to pay their annual dues by cheque or by credit card.

Associate Membership gives working employees immediate access to the full range of services and discounts (such as home computer support and trip emergency medical and trip cancellation) enjoyed by regular FSNA members. (The vast majority of our members have said that they had waited far too long to do proper planning in this regard.)
