Hospital Coverage

PSHCP benefits for HOSPITAL LEVELS I, II, and III

While PSHCP does provide a coverage of $60 a day, in Ontario this equates to the cost of that which is already provided by OHIP.  In other words, there is no upgrade for those Ontario Members with Hospital Level 1 beyond that which is provided by OHIP.  Level ll entitles Members to $100 per day.  Level lll entitles Members to $150 per day.  It is to be noted that the present semi-private rate at the Ottawa Hospital is $170 per day.  Therefore, if the patient (or the person representing the patient) signs for an upgrade to semi-private or private, an additional charge (over and above the PSHCP benefit coverage) will be levied which will NOT be covered under the PSHCP.

Current MONTHLY PREMIUMS

It should be noted that each of the Levels listed in the following Table allows for a specific daily dollar value for hospital coverage and NOT for a designated category of room. For example, the daily rate for a semi-private room in the Ottawa Hospital is $170.00 whereas the maximum coverage under level III is $150.00.

Level Daily $ paid by Plan Premium (incl tax): Single/Family
One $60   $9.72    /    $  19.06
Two $100   $27.60    /  $36.95
Three $150   $58.76   /    $68.10
